Neat rows of the same size frames, positioned against each other is a great way to turn bare boring wall into a striking statement attraction.
To bring alive the stark white wall above my staircase, I purchased 9 simple wooden frames, took one of my favourite coffee table books and cut out any images that inspired or uplifted me.
I have always had a need to be close to the water and am fascinated with the glamourous work of socialite photographer Slim Aarons. So his book “Pool Side” was a perfect supply of fabulous chic images, each including the element of water.
Looking at his images of socialites, celebrities as well as nobility, I feel like a privileged fly on the wall getting a sneak peek into a fabulous and uber exclusive party. Each image that I chose, has a pool, ocean or lake as a key element in the photo, with blue (my favourite colour) linking each picture.
Because I used a coffee table book and cut the images out, I saved on having to buy the individual posters which would have added up to be quite expensive. Plus being a coffee table book, the paper is of a great high gloss quality, and works well under the glass. You can also buy pre-cut mounts at most framing shops to really help the image stand out.
The finished result looks a lot more expensive than it actually cost. Here are some reasonably priced frames that we found for you to try this out as well as 5 great books to help create a simular look for your home.
